Uma das séries de maior sucesso da Netflix estreou sua 5ª temporada em 5 de junho com um clima de ineditismo. O primeiro episódio, intitulado Striking Vipers, transforma São Paulo em cenário em diversas sequências. É a primeira vez que uma cidade brasileira entra no roteiro da produção internacional.

A articulação e o apoio para as gravações se realizarem partiram da São Paulo Film Commission, departamento da Spcine responsável por administrar os pedidos de filmagem na cidade.

A equipe da série solicitou 19 locações, entre elas o Viaduto Santa Ifigênia e as avenidas Chucri Zaidan e das Nações Unidas. Há na lista lugares privados como o edifício Louvre, um apartamento na Avenida Paulista, a boate The Year Club e o heliponto do Copan. As gravações aconteceram entre 18 de março e 8 de abril de 2018, envolvendo 150 profissionais.

Estrelado por Yahya Abdul-Mateen II e Anthony Mackie, o Falcão da franquia Os Vingadores, o episódio conta a história de dois amigos viciados em um jogo de luta em realidade virtual que os fazem sentir dentro do cenário do game. No período, 2,8 mil produções rodaram na cidade gerando mais de 65 mil postos de trabalho e uma movimentação financeira de pelo menos R$ 1,3 bilhão.
